ARTIST BIO
Born into the ranching heritage of the Southwest, Ken Payne’s life and work vividly brought the memories of the Old West to life. His heroic bronze sculptures capture the action, danger, and even the humor of many frontier situations, making him a celebrated figure in the world of Western art.
Ken was deeply inspired by the great sculptors of the past, particularly the Greek and Roman masters. He strived to incorporate their design qualities into his Western themes, creating pieces that resonate with both historical accuracy and artistic excellence. Ken Payne’s bronze sculptures are shown and collected internationally, prized by noted art connoisseurs and first-time collectors alike. His work gained widespread recognition through the nationally televised program, “Sculpting with Ken Payne,” which introduced thousands to his unique artistic vision.
Visitors from across the country and around the world came to hear Ken Payne’s stories at his Mountain Trails Gallery in Tlaquepaque, Sedona, Arizona. He dedicated his life to accurately portraying the fading ways of cowboys, mountain men, pioneers, and Native Americans, preserving a dynamic era that we can hold in our hands and our hearts.
Today, the Payne legacy continues with three generations of sculptors: Ken Payne, his son Vic Payne, and his grandson Dustin Payne. Each generation carries forward the tradition of capturing the spirit of the American West through their remarkable bronze sculptures.
