ARTIST BIO
From a very young age, it was clear that Jordyn Payne had a passion for painting. At just 10 years old, her vivid imagination and talent for creating vibrant colors were evident in her first painting, a seascape.
Jordyn’s love of the great outdoors is beautifully reflected in her artwork. She has spent years deepening her perception of color and connection to nature, exploring diverse landscapes from the Red Rocks of Utah to the deserts of New Mexico, the Tetons’ peaks, and Yellowstone’s vast forests. Throughout her adult life, she has hiked, fished, camped, explored, and absorbed the essence of the wilderness. Jordan has also expanded her art education by taking workshops with noted artists Robert Moore and Michael Ome Untiedt.
These experiences, combined with her expressive use of the palette knife and her ability to capture intriguing hues and shades of the outdoors, captivate her audience. Viewers can almost feel the cold of winter, the smell of rain, or the sound of aspen leaves quaking in the breeze. This intuitive ability earned her the “Gilly Fales Award” in 2014 for the Young Aspiring Artists by the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale held annually in Cody, Wyoming.
Jordyn lives in the charming mountain town of Meeteetse, Wyoming, with her husband, Corey Guthrie, and their dog, Newt. Whether capturing the vibrant hues of a sunset or the delicate textures of quaking aspens, Jordyn’s work is deeply influenced by the natural splendor surrounding her.
