ARTIST BIO
Born and raised in north Alabama, Jeremy Doss developed a deep appreciation for nature, which became a central theme in his artistic journey. Spending time outdoors instilled in him a desire to capture the beauty of the natural world, but his artistic vision extends far beyond landscapes. His passion for painting includes figures, wildlife, and still life, blending impressionism and realism in his oil paintings.
Jeremy’s path to becoming an artist was unconventional. Before dedicating himself to painting, he pursued a career in dancing and choreography in New York City, performing with an off-Broadway company. This experience shaped his understanding of movement, rhythm, and composition—elements that now influence his approach to painting. Largely self-taught, he refined his skills through observation, practice, and an unwavering commitment to his craft.
Preferring the alla prima technique, Jeremy paints in a direct, expressive style, applying wet-on-wet layers to create dynamic and emotionally resonant works. His paintings reflect his faith, which he credits as the driving force behind his creativity. “There is no way I can recreate what has been masterfully created nor do I want to try. Yet, I have been privileged to paint how it makes me feel,” he says. His goal is to evoke hope and peace in those who view his work.
Jeremy’s artistic journey has taken him across the country, allowing him to immerse himself in diverse landscapes and cultures. He has lived in New York City, Townsend, TN, and Santa Fe, NM, each place influencing his artistic perspective. Now residing in Rapid City, South Dakota, he continues to explore new inspirations, capturing the essence of the world around him with depth and emotion.
