Born in Zolotuchino, Russia, Alexander “Sasha” Selytin discovered his passion for art at an early age, encouraged by his father. His artistic journey began with informal creations on fences, walls, and schoolbooks, eventually leading him to formal training at the Art School in Zeleznogorsk, where he graduated with honors. His talent earned him acceptance into The Academy of Fine Arts, Russia’s most prestigious art institution, where he entered at the top of his class and exhibited works in Moscow and New York.
In 1990, Selytin moved to the western United States, where he found deep inspiration in Native American culture. His fascination with Indigenous traditions and artifacts led him to specialize in still life paintings of Anasazi pottery, moccasins, and headdresses, capturing historical authenticity with extraordinary realism. His meticulous attention to detail, color, and texture has made him a master of his craft, preserving cultural narratives through his work.
Selytin’s paintings are held in private collections across the nation, as well as in the permanent collections of the Springville Museum of Art and the Huntsman Medical Center. His ability to blend historical accuracy with artistic expression has earned him recognition among collectors and art enthusiasts alike2.
