AUTUMN’S RUN
Bronze, 18″H x 50″L x 12″D, Limited Ed. of 35 – Created 2018
From Yellowstone to the Big Horn Basin, this track has been a thoroughfare for countless ancient Native Americans, Mountain Men, and wildlife. When in this lonely place, it is easy for the artist’s mind to get lost in thought, to restore one’s spirt, convictions and to listen and learn from the lessons of creation.
It has been my experience when I wake up in the snow-covered mountains, as I look out in the early morning light, to see across the valley a herd of 300 – 400 elk moving past our hunting camp. They are migrating to their winter grazing grounds in the Big Horn Basin and leaving the high country. Every year that I have been blessed to visit these wonders of North America are a stored treasure in the library of my mind.
The fresh air, seeing wildlife in their natural habitat and spending time with my family and close friends help me to prepare my thoughts for another year. Early fall snow brings on the ‘Autumn Run’ and the great herds of elk begin to descend the mountains in a long moving line that leaves me in awe and come spring they will once again return home to the big blue mountains.
