For over 45 years, renowned Western sculptor Vic Payne has captivated audiences with his meticulous attention to detail and dynamic compositions, earning national and international acclaim. His diverse portfolio, ranging from intimate pieces to monumental bronzes, invites viewers on an emotional journey through the rich tapestry of the American West. Vic’s sculptures, depicting wildlife, Native American, and Western themes, are proudly displayed in esteemed institutions such as the Booth Western Art Museum, Buffalo Bill Center of the West, and Western Spirit Scottsdale’s Museum of the West. Throughout his illustrious career, he has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Premier Platinum Award at the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale for his historical sculpture “The Gift.”

His works, whether depicting wildlife, Native American, or Western themes, capture the pioneering and mystical spirit of the American West. Most of his sculptures tell stories about history or the subject matter, bringing them to life and involving the audience in the narrative. Vic’s sculptures are proudly displayed in the permanent collections of esteemed institutions such as the Booth Western Art Museum, Buffalo Bill Center of the West, and Western Spirit Scottsdale’s Museum of the West.

Throughout his illustrious career, he has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Premier Platinum Award at the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale for his historical sculpture “The Gift.”

Today, Vic and his wife Angie reside in the Cody/Meeteetse, Wyoming area. Vic’s studio is located in the historic Meeteetse Mercantile building, recently renovated to house his sculpture studio. The rich history of Meeteetse, coupled with its breathtaking landscapes, provides endless inspiration for Vic’s work. Here, he continues to sculpt the spirit of the American West, one masterpiece at a time.
