CALECO FOUNDRY FIRE
Dear Friends and Fellow Art Lovers,
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the devastating fire that struck Caleco Foundry in Cody, Wyoming, during the early hours of May 29, 2024.
The flames consumed several of Vic’s monumental and masterwork molds, including those belonging to esteemed artists Dustin Payne, Chris Navarro, and Michael D. Thomas. These molds are more than mere objects; they encapsulate the artists’ visions, their unwavering passion, and often decades of painstaking effort.
As we grapple with this loss, we remain resolute in our commitment to rebuild and create anew. Amidst the ashes, there is a glimmer of hope: Vic’s latest work-in-progress, “The Walk of Tombstone,” had not yet made its way to the foundry. It stands as a testament to resilience and the creative spirit.
The outpouring of love and encouragement from our community has touched our hearts profoundly. We are grateful for every phone call, every message, and every shared memory. Your support sustains us during this challenging time.
If your travels bring you to the Yellowstone area, we invite you to visit Vic’s new sculpting studio and gallery in Meeteetse, Wyoming. Here, amidst the rugged beauty of the American West, we continue to honor art’s enduring legacy.
Thank you for being part of our journey.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Angie M. Payne @ Vic Payne Studio & Gallery
